Through the Eyes of a Child

April Arts

This April, children at our MC campus embarked on a unique "Journey with the Masters"! Let’s take a look at their creative masterpieces:

Blue Group: Paid tribute to pop art legend Andy Warhol, reimagining his iconic floral designs with vibrant colors. Yellow Group: Recreated Wang Ximeng’s A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains, using tender brushstrokes to depict dreamy Jiangnan landscapes.

Red&Pink Group: Explored Mondrian’s geometric abstraction, crafting playful compositions in primary colors.

Through this artistic immersion, children not only developed their aesthetic sensibilities but also honed their unique creative expressions by observing, imitating, and innovating. Watching them concentrate on their artwork, we glimpsed the budding artists of tomorrow!

April 22 is the Earth Day, children across all age groups expressed their love for the planet through art: Red&Pink Group pressed their tiny hands in blue and green paint, stamping their vision of Earth. Yellow Group crafted Earth collages using eco-friendly torn paper. Blue Group adorned their Earth drawings with protective "caring hands."

These heartfelt creations quietly planted seeds of environmental awareness in every child’s heart.

Pudong Campus

Art classes at our Pudong campus were equally inspiring! Teachers guided children to use sponge-stamped paint for butterfly outlines, then collect fallen petals outdoors to decorate their artworks. The children found artistic inspiration in nature, capturing spring’s beauty in lively creations.

This month, Pudong students also collaborated on a group masterpiece. Firstly, they drew with watercolors on plastic sheets, then they sprayed water for a bleeding effect. Finally, they pressed paper to transfer the design—resulting in a stunning communal butterfly artwork!

Spring Growth Diary

As the warm  sunlight kiss the earth, the adorable children of Meiqiu have already embarked on a date with spring! In this season of rejuvenation, the children weave springtime fairy tales with their hands. Let us step into this vibrant March campus together!

Spring Arts

Spring, like a magical painter, sketches endless inspiration for us with its vitality. The colorful flowers adorn the innocent world of the children.

The children of the Red and Pink groups at Mandarin City Campus are like little artists. They imprinted colorful flowers with their small hands and skillfully folded paper into birds that soar freely, as if carrying the hopes of spring on their wings. They also picked up painting tools to render cherry blossom trees, bringing the spring scenery to life before our eyes.

The Yellow group children, with their unique paper-tearing, created ingenious spring flowers. During the Women's Day craft activity, they made  bouquets with colored paper balls, gifts filled with love and deep respect for their mothers. The pink paper balls became vivid and lifelike cherry blossoms, like the brightest smiles of spring.

Under the patient guidance of their teachers, the Blue group children successfully completed two-tone gradient origami flowers. These delicate paper flowers not only exuded a warm atmosphere but also showed the children's cleverness and skill. Their handmade cherry blossoms also earned praise from the teachers.

The children at Pudong Campus were also enthusiastic. During the Women's Day craft activity, they made festive flowers for their beloved mothers. The Blue group children showed creativity, crafting unique handmade necklaces for their mothers with colored clay, wishing them eternal beauty.

In another spring-themed painting activity, the children drew creative inspiration from the renowned painting "Rainy River" by master artist Wu Guanzhong. They dipped strands of yarn into paint and freely brushed them across the paper, creating lively spring rain that resembled scattered raindrops, scattering flowers. Then, using their tiny fingers, they dabbed on colorful spring blossoms, capturing the vitality of spring.

Bus Drill

Ensuring the safety of children is always the top priority at Meiqiu Kindergarten. This month, Pudong Campus and last month Mandarin City Campus conducted school bus safety drills. During the drills, the children performed exceptionally well under the careful guidance of their teachers and the bus aides, facing simulated vehicle malfunctions. They adhered to "no running," "no shouting," and "no pushing," and with the help of bus aides, they exited the bus orderly through the safety door and evacuated smoothly. Each child proved to be a qualified little safety guardian!

March Outside Play

In early spring, though the chill has not yet dissipated, the excitement in the hearts of Meiqiu's children is already unstoppable. Like cheerful little birds, they ran and played on the lawn. Blowing bubbles and tug-of-war, their laughter echoes over the gradually greening grass, adding a joyful hue to spring.

In the body coordination class of the Red and Pink groups, the children bravely attempted long jumps from the jumping mat. Each movement, from the run-up to the sprint and the jump, was full of strength and vitality. Their soaring figures in the air resembled young eaglets spreading their wings, striving towards the warm spring.

After enduring the cold weather, the sky finally cleared. The children at the Pudong Campus eagerly rushed to the sunny outdoor playground. Playing soccer and sliding down the slides, they frolicked freely with their friends in the beautiful spring light, enjoying the joyful moments bestowed by nature, each face brimming with happiness.

A Spinkle of Spring A Heap of Sweet

Mamemaki

In traditional beliefs, seasonal changes bring forth evil spirits. To welcome a new year free from illness and misfortune, people during Setsubun (the Japanese spring festival) scatter beans to drive out demons and invite blessings. The international department children received tiny beans from their teachers, ready to join this ancient ritual!

Before the event began, the teacher from Japanese department captivated everyone with vivid stories about Setsubun. Gathered in a circle in the concert hall, the children listened eagerly as they learned about this playful tradition.

Here come the demons! Playful "evil spirits" made their entrance! The brave little warriors shouted chants to ward off the demons, flinging beans at the dancing "monsters" in a lively bean-spraying battle!

The defeated demons fled with embarrassed grins, while the victorious children shared joyful laughter. In the final cleanup, everyone worked together to collect scattered beans, ensuring the concert hall returned to its sparkling cleanliness.

Lantern Festival Arts

The Lantern Festival is here, with lanterns hanging high! To help children experience the charm of traditional festivals, students at Mandarin City Campus carefully prepared vibrant lanterns under their teachers' guidance. The creations mirrored the children's joyful smiles, filling the classroom with festive cheer.

Meanwhile, young artists at Pudong Campus used their nimble hands to craft beautiful lanterns through cutting, pasting, and origami. Colorful creations came to life on paper as the children proudly displayed their works.

Valentine's Day Party

The Valentine's Day activities at Meiqiu Kindergarten always fill the campus with warmth and sweetness. During this special occasion, children prepared assorted candies to share love and joy with their classmates. Pink candy bags adorned with everyone's handmade heart crafts were ready for the joyous candy exchange, spreading sweetness throughout the room.

Meanwhile, little angels of love at Pudong Campus turned into "Love Ambassadors" during craft class. They creatively assembled colorful paper hearts through collage, then delivered handwritten greeting cards paired with vibrant candies to their friends. As the candy exchange began, the classroom echoed with children's laughter filled with pure happiness.

Happy Chinese New Year

For this year's Chinese New Year crafts, the Blue Group at Mandarin City Campus made Chinese knots. First, they used stickers to complete the main body of the Chinese knot, then used red lines to outline the knot, and finally wrote the three Chinese characters on the paper.

As the Chinese Lunar Year of the Snake is coming, the children in the Yellow Group completed a lovely snake craft under the guidance of their teacher. The red and yellow paper pieces were interlocked, and the snake was done! The children raised their hands to show the teachers their masterpieces.

The children in the Red and Pink Group used colorful paints to dip and paint a beautiful New Year's firework. The children had to learn how to evenly spread the paint on the paper and how to match the colors, and they had to learn to be careful and patient in doing so.

The children in the Red and Yellow groups at Pudong Campus cut out a snake according to the lines on the colored paper, and then added the snake's eyes and tongue as well as decorations on its body, and our New Year's craft was completed! In the origami class, which the blue group loved, the teachers taught the children to fold the paper to make a New Year snake, and then added the Chinese character 'Fortune' on the colorful paper to wish everyone a prosperous New Year.

Mochitsuki Activity for the New Year in Meiqiu has begun! Children from the International Department of the Mandarin City Campus came to the Music Hall with their whole families and were excited about this special Japanese New Year's event.

First, the dads took turns pounding the steamed white glutinous rice, and then everyone took turns pounding the rice cakes with a wooden pestle and mortar. The children cheered on their dads.Let's pound the rice cakes to make them more sticky!

The children then joined their parents and siblings in pounding the rice cakes. Although they were small, the children swung the pestle and pounded the rice cakes very seriously, and it was always such a joy to be with their brothers and sisters and good friends!

After pounding the rice cakes, the children and their parents went back to their classes to taste the soft and sticky rice cakes! With the addition of bean paste or seaweed, everyone made their own DIY rice cakes. It tasted really good!

Pudong Campus held a Chinese New Year Making Tangyuan activity. Lanterns are a common traditional Chinese food for the New Year, so let's have a taste of how to make them! Moms and dads first added water to the glutinous rice flour to prepare the dough for the dumplings, and then the kids and the whole family picked up the soft dumpling skins and bean paste fillings and rolled them into cute dumplings.

With the completion of each successful dumpling, the children put them into the box, full of anticipation to bring them home. Isn't the sweetness of the soup dumplings made by your own hands extra sweet? Wish you all a happy Chinese New Year!

Warm Christmas Season

Daily Life

With the arrival of the cold winter , our children are all wearing thick coats. How to put on and take off their own clothes, use zip fasteners and hang clothes on hangers are all necessary life skills for children. The first thing our children do when they come to kindergarten is to change into their indoor shoes, hang up their clothes and organise their bags. The new students are also gradually learning with the help of their teachers.

Our children are required to wear their name tags every day and the process of using pins is also an exercise for finger strength. After lunch, the teachers guide the children in putting away their bowls and wiping their tables with a rag. Learning to take care of their own environment helps children to understand the relationship between themselves and their environment, to realise that they are the ‘masters’ of the class, and to develop a sense of responsibility and the ability to take care of the environment.

Two children from the yellow or blue group will be chosen daily in each class to be the teacher's Lunch Helper. Through simple labour such as wiping the table, distributing fruits and carrying food trays for classmates, the children are able to get to know other children in the class and at the same time cultivate their care and love for others.

November in Meiqiu

Late autumn leaves slowly fall

It is November in the kindergarten

What are the fun activities for our children?

Let's take a look!

·Thanksgiving Day·

In Thanksgiving Day craft class this year, the children in the Red Pink Group of Mandarin City Campus made cute little turkeys. They took small paper cups, cut and pasted the turkey's eyes and nose, and then inserted colourful ‘chicken feathers’ to create a unique holiday craft.

In the yellow group, children dipped sponges in turkey-inspired red and yellow colours and drew their own turkey feathers on paper plates. It took careful observation and hands-on work to get the colours on beautifully.

The blue group picked up leaves from the lawn of the kindergarten and created a Thanksgiving poster. Firstly, they wrote down their gratitude in English on a piece of paper, and then they picked their favourite patterns from the leaves and pasted them around the poster. Everyone felt a sense of accomplishment as they completed their own work step by step!

The children in the red and yellow groups at Pudong Campus made Thanksgiving bouquets using line drawing and cutting and pasting. The children in the blue group picked their favourite colours and made more colourful bouquets, and at the end, they wrote words of thanks in English on their work.

The Thanksgiving event at Meiqiu also was as an opportunity to thank the staff around the children who help out so much in the kindergarten. The children held the hands of the kitchen chef, the cleaning lady, and the administrative teacher and invited them to the classroom to taste the curry and rice that they had prepared with their own hands. A warm atmosphere filled the classroom, let's thank all of them for their care and help!

The children at Pudong Campus picked up the snacks and gave them to the bus driver, security guard and cleaning lady. We hope this activity will plant the seeds of gratitude in the children's hearts.

· Parents Visiting Week·

The first Parent Visiting Week of the school year has begun! Parents chose the classes they were interested in according to the timetable and came to the kindergarten to visit their children's classrooms. Mums and dads are looking forward to watching their children's performance and recording their thoughts and suggestions on the feedback forms. Parents visiting week is also an important part of home-school communication. Visiting the classroom is a good chance to experience, and the feedback is also very helpful for the teachers to improve their teaching.

· Sports Activities·

Physical activity has always been a very important part of our education. Early childhood sports activities have a very good effect on cultivating children's interest in sports and habits, enhancing physical fitness and body coordination, developing adaptability to the environment, and building self-confidence.

The children of the Red Pink Group of the Mandarin City Campus were doing exercises on balance and body coordination. With the assistance of the teacher, they were walking carefully on the balancing pole, trying to maintain the balance of their bodies and not falling down. Good job, kids!

In the after-school PE session, everyone mobilised their limbs for crawling exercises under the guidance of the PE teacher. Crawling helps to build muscle strength and improve sensitivity and coordination. Ball games are always exciting for children, and the process of playing is also a process of physical exercise. We are committed to making  child like sports through a variety of fun activities.

The children at Pudong Campus were practising obstacle running and jumping in the concert hall, a fun exercise that teached them to be brave and not afraid of difficulties. The plyo soft box exercise can practice children's jumping and climbing ability as well as their physical ability.Everyone finally strives to stand on the highest  box with the help of the teacher.

During the outdoor activities, children and teachers played various games in the small playground of Donghe Apartment. Even when the weather got cold, we still need to move our bodies! Whether it was jumping rope, kicking a ball or sliding down a slide, the green lawn was filled with the sound of children's laughter.
